Canada’s big media goes after OpenAI, while Ottawa targets Google

On Friday, five of Canada’s major news media organizations, Torstar, Postmedia, The Globe and Mail, the Canadian Press and CBC, filed a lawsuit against ChatGPT creator OpenAI, accusing the generative AI company of copyright infringement.

The Canadian Anti-Monopoly Project is a think tank dedicated to addressing the issue of monopoly power in Canada. CAMP produces research and advocates for policy proposals to make Canada’s economy more fair, free, and democratic.
